Biografía del artista:
Joan Margarit (Barcelona, 1955) is a Catalan painter with a figurative and impressionist style, known for his urban landscapes, Mediterranean scenes, and views of European cities, especially Venice, one of his main sources of inspiration.
Born in Barcelona in 1955, he showed desde a very young age a great artistic sensibility, beginning in drawing and painting. His training was influenced by the Catalan landscape tradition and by the great masters of European Impressionism and Post-Impressionism.
Throughout his career he developed a personal style characterized by an energetic, loose, and impasted brushstroke, a rich color palette, and a special interest in the effects of light on architecture and water.
His compositions frequently depict old streets, squares, Venetian canals, and picturesque corners of Mediterranean cities, where human figures integrate spontaneously into the urban landscape.
His painting stands out for the expressive power of color, luminous contrasts, and the generous application of paint, managing to convey the movement and atmosphere of the places depicted.
Joan Margarit’s work is framed within contemporary figurative impressionism, combining the tradition of the Catalan landscape school with a modern, spontaneous, and expressive interpretation of reality.
