AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Plate with a knight figure (late historiated copy from Montelupo). Late 19th century.
Manufacture Fratelli Fanciullacci (Capraia Fiorentina)
Plate with a knight painted in a deliberately archaizing style, inspired by Montelupo Renaissance maiolica. The light background, the green rim, the blue and yellow fields, and the brown-outlined contour create a very characteristic overall impression.
The figure, with the dark headdress, the lance, and the white horse, seems to echo the repertoire of Renaissance historiated plates, but with a freer and more simplified rendering. It is consistent with the hypothesis of a nineteenth-century revival of the old style.
