Description from the seller
Giacomo Leopardi – Epistolary – Florence, Felice Le Monnier, 1854 – Two volumes bound into one
Interesting nineteenth-century edition of Leopardi's Epistolary, gathered and arranged by Prospero Viani, published in Florence by Felice Le Monnier in 1854.
The work includes the correspondence of the great poet of Recanati, a fundamental document for the knowledge of his life, his thought and his relations with the Italian intellectual world of the early nineteenth century.
Alongside Leopardi's letters are the Greek inscriptions triopee, translated into Italian verse by Leopardi himself, with text and notes, as well as the letters of Pietro Giordani and Pietro Colletta addressed to the author.
The epistolary includes correspondences with family members, friends, scholars and cultural figures of the time, among whom Francesco Cancelliere and Adelaide Maestri. The volume also preserves the indices of the correspondents, particularly useful for consultation.
