Spiritual Works of Rev. Louis of Granada, divided into four parts

The Spiritual Works of Rev. Louis of Granada (Order of Saint Dominic) bring together the major writings of the great Spanish mystic preacher (1504-1588) translated into French, notably by Fr. Simon Martin.
This classic collection is traditionally divided into four parts:
1. The First Part
• Content: The Guide for Sinners.
• Purpose: A fundamental treatise where the Christian learns what he must do from his initial conversion to the end of life to walk on the path of salvation.
2. The Second Part
• Content: The Treatise on Prayer and Meditation.
• Purpose: A practical guide devoted to mental prayer, the mysteries of faith, as well as the essential penitential practices namely prayer, fasting, and almsgiving.
3. The Third Part
• Content: The Memorial of Christian Life.
• Purpose: A practical abridgment focused on preparation for the sacraments (confession, communion) and on the conduct to be followed for a soul that has turned toward God.
4. The Fourth Part
• Content: The Treatise on the Love of God and prologue on the Philomel or Nightingale of Saint Bonaventure.
• Purpose: An elevated meditation on divine love and on the principal mysteries of Jesus Christ’s life to lead the soul toward spiritual perfection.
