AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Up for auction is a nice antique 4/4 violin for professional musician or collector. The label says: Carlo Ferdinando Landolfi, nella Contrada di Santa Margarita, al Segno della Sirena, Milano 1768. The instrument remains in good condition with some tears and wears but no cracks, pirastro strings, french ajustable bridge, good ebony and boxwood set up. This is a superb sounding instrument, also very beautiful in appearance. Nice and clean made inlaid purfling. The scroll is professionally executed and the edges are masterfully done. The original varnish of golden brown color over lighter ground remains in good condition. The strongly flamed one piece maple back measures 359 mm. The total length of the violin is 593 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 168 mm; middle bouts: 112 mm; lower bouts: 203 mm. Beautiful model with a very elegant natural amber patina, very high quality of woods, perfect details all over. The sound of this instrument is of a charming character, rich, warm, sweet and beautiful colors, depth and great carrying power. Shipping worldwide insured!

Violins and bows described as 'certified' or 'attributed' include images of their certificates and are therefore considered to have a higher degree of documented certainty regarding maker, origin, and age than instruments described only as 'labelled' (violins) or 'stamped' (bows), for which we provide no guarantee of any kind
