Description from the seller
►“Where We Almost Meet” – Original Painting
Original hand-crafted painting by Daniel Witschkanow, 2026
Description
“Where We Almost Meet” is a expressive, monochrome painting that portrays the fragile connection between two people in a fascinating interplay of figuration and abstraction. Two human faces seem to emerge from a complex tangle of black threads, approaching each other and at the same time dissolving into the abstract composition.
Particularly impressive is the tension-filled arrangement of the faces. While individual facial features emerge from dense black color structures, other areas disappear behind countless intertwined lines. The dynamic movements create an almost tangible emotional tension between proximity, longing, and distance.
The consistent restriction to black and white enhances the expressive effect of the work. Delicate lines meet strong color densities, creating an extraordinary link between controlled design and spontaneous abstraction.
About the painting
“Where We Almost Meet” deals with the invisible connection between people. The intertwined lines symbolize thoughts, memories, longings, and emotional dependencies that can bind two individuals together.
The approaching, partly dissolving faces embody the tension between the desire for closeness and the fear of losing oneself in it. The seemingly chaotic structures leave open whether the two personalities unite with each other or slowly drift apart.
The work invites reflection on human relationships and the fragility of emotional bonds.
Technique
The painting was created with Daniel Witschkanow’s characteristic thread technique. The human forms are not produced by classic brushstrokes but by flowing, overlapping threads of acrylic paint and painting medium.
Fine, almost drawing-like lines blend with strong color consolidations, producing intense contrasts and a multi-layered surface texture. The interaction of controlled randomness and deliberate composition gives the work its special dynamics.
Through the monochrome color palette and the complex layering of lines, an independent visual language emerges that fuses traditional portraiture with experimental, abstract painting.
