Description of the work
The Wait presents a female figure seated in an armchair, shown in full profile to the viewer, suggesting a pose that anyone might find themselves in at some moment in life, in a temporary or eternal wait. With a simple interior-view approach, it speaks to the philosophical and social meaning of Waiting, the sadness and the hope it embodies. The composition plays on the opposition between body and geometry, intimacy and distance, presence and silence. It is a contemplative, dreamlike painting that invites deep thought and analysis of each person’s consciousness and the meanings of waiting.
