Description from the seller

Description

Original drawing done in mixed media on paper, depicting an elegant architectural view with a basin and vegetation.

The composition centers around a building of classical architecture, topped with a small dome and surrounded by abundant vegetation. In the foreground, a basin creates a play of reflections that extend the architecture and the vegetation, bringing depth and balance to the composition.

The artist combines drawing, wash, and colored highlights, in a subtle palette dominated by browns, ochres, grays, and greens. The free and spontaneous treatment of the vegetation contrasts with the more precise drawing of the architecture and gives the whole an especially evocative atmosphere.

The work bears a handwritten signature at the bottom right. It is difficult to decipher and could possibly read “G. Porhuis” / “G. Porhui” or “Fortuny,” without it being possible to confirm any of these readings with certainty. The work is therefore presented as signed, artist not identified, without formal attribution.

Technique: mixed technique on paper
Subject: architecture and landscape with basin
Dimensions: 28 × 24 cm
Signature: signed at bottom right, uncertain reading ("G. Porhuis" / "G. Porhui" or "Fortuny")
Original work

The paper and its mounting show various signs of age, notably foxing, stains, halos and wear. The photographs allow precise appreciation of the technique, the signature and the state of conservation and are part of the description.

Beautiful antique work with atmospheric treatment, combining architecture, vegetation and reflections in a delicate and balanced composition.
