The work: A lively Provençal market scene full of life, light and authenticity. The village square comes alive around an elegant stone fountain bordered by flowers in violet and golden hues. The warm façades with radiant blue shutters overlook the colorful stalls filled with citrus fruits and local specialties, sheltered under an azure parasol and the benevolent shade of a pink bougainvillea-flowered tree. Technique: Work carried out in acrylic using brush and painting knife on canvas mounted on a wooden panel. The subtle combination of brush for shadow and light, and knife for generous texture, brings exceptional liveliness to the scene. The impasto strokes lavishly sculpt the texture of the fruits, the fountain stones and the flowering foliage.

The Artist: With more than 25 years of professional career (established since 2001, first exhibition in 1992), NOLAC (born 1970) is an accomplished artist. Her knife-work is her signature, combining the strength of gesture with poetic finesse. She now embraces a freer, more instinctive interpretation of scenes of life and landscapes, brushing against luminous and expressive abstraction.
