Remontoir Cylindre Lepine in a brass case, reference 26520, dating to circa 1850–1900, with a manual cylinder movement, 45 mm case diameter, 66 g weight, in good condition with visible signs of wear, in working order and shipped insured.
Description from the seller
This antique men's pocket watch (ca. 1890–1910) is a classic open-face (Lépine) model of anonymous Swiss make. The dial is finished in bright white enamel with traditional black Roman hour numerals, a subtle minute ring, and a sunk seconds hand at the 6 o’clock position. The refined, open-work gold-colored hands in Louis XV style give the watch an elegant appearance. The case features a gold-colored (gilded) bezel around the glass.
The mechanical cylinder movement is equipped with 6 jewels (Cylindre 6 Rubis). The inner dust cover (cuvette) is beautifully engraved with these specifications, decorated with four medals symbolizing historical exhibitions or earned quality prizes. The watch is fitted with a manual remontoir winding system via the crown at the top. The running speed can be manually adjusted via the regulator lever, which bears the French markings Avance / Retard. The movement is in working order.
The inside of the case back shows the struck serial number 26520 and contains no precious metal hallmarks, indicating a case of an non-noble base metal or nickel alloy with gilded accents. The case closes well and has, over the years, developed a charming, authentic patina. A solid and representative collectible for enthusiasts of antique Swiss timepieces from the turn of the century.
