Vittorio Tessari (1860-1940) - Ritratto Onorevole Conte Ferruccio Macola

A large oil portrait of the Hon. Count Ferruccio Macola (founder of the Gazzetta di Venezia) by painter Vittorio Tessari. The painter, born in 1860, studied at the Venetian Academy and was a pupil of Eugenio De Blaas; he was a portraitist active specifically in Venice. The painting is posthumous, dated 1914 (Macola had died in 1910), probably commissioned by the family and based on a photograph. The canvas measures 115 x 71 cm and, with the period gilded frame, 130 x 87 cm; the frame shows a few small nicks/chips in the gilding. Signed at the lower left.
