Autobiography of Restif de La Bretonne in which he recounts his childhood in Burgundy up to his life as a writer in Paris. Personal narrative, chronicle of mores and intimate confession intertwine there: the author speaks of his education, his emotional experiences, his social relationships and the genesis of his literary work.

This illustrated edition reprints the text of the edition established by Isidore Liseux in 1883, itself based on the edition published by Restif at the end of the eighteenth century.
