Muonionalusta is considered, at an age of about 4.6 billion years, one of the oldest known iron meteorites on our planet and is thus a witness to the beginnings of our solar system.

The Muonionalusta meteorite is a meteorite classified as a fine octahedrite of type IVA and occurred in Northern Scandinavia, west of the border between Sweden and Finland, about one million years BCE.
