Description from the seller
I am a painter. I trained in oil painting at the Beaux-Arts workshops of the City of Paris, under exceptional teachers such as Didier Picketty, François Bard, and André Bouzereau. I learned to observe in life-drawing and still-life workshops, and to understand color harmony.
I gradually began painting landscapes outdoors, working from life, depicting views of Paris and seascapes in the South, particularly the calanques of the Côte d’Azur.
I refine my powers of observation by studying the works of masters such as Monet, Cézanne, and Van Gogh, as well as German painters such as Kirchner and Norwegian painters such as Munch.
In the series of landscapes of Giverny,
The painting shows yellow and pink irises bathed in the light of the garden at Giverny.
The contrast between the foliage of the weeping willows, which form flowing streaks across the canvas, and the flowers’ colorful brushstrokes gives the composition its rhythm.
Through the foliage, the blue of the water appears, blending with the sky.
The simplicity of the composition contrasts with the elaborate handling of its elements and highlights the pink and yellow irises among the green foliage.
