The 2017 Meursault Les Chevalières is especially good this year, the charm of the vintage marrying with the inherent tension that defines the wines from this site to magical effect. Unfurling in the glass with scents of lemon oil, crisp Anjou pear, hazelnut cream, blanched almonds and white flowers, the wine is medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with a layered and multidimensional core, racy acidity and a long, chalky finish. In fact, this might be the finest young Chevalières I have ever tasted. Amounting to a mere 0.12 hectares, this is the smallest of the domaine's holdings, typically producing merely two barrels of wine, so it will sadly be difficult to find

The 2017 Meursault Les Chevaliers 1er Cru is the smallest cuvée of the domaine, producing no more than two barrels. It has a beguilingly complex bouquet with enticing scents of almond, frangipane and crushed pebbles and fleeting aromas of white chocolate. It is certainly blessed with arresting delineation. The palate is built around zesty acidity that electrifies the senses. Notes of orange pith, dried apricot and hints of ginger lead to a pure and very persistent finish. Superb.

The 2017 Meursault “les Chevalières” from Domaine Coche-Dury is a beautiful wine in the making, with a very floral personality this year and unrepentant elegance right out of the blocks. The bouquet wafts from the glass in a refined mix of pear, apple, spring flowers, chalky soil tones, almond, a touch of iodine and a lovely framing of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, focused and a bit more reserved than the Narvaux, with a lovey core of fruit, excellent soil signature, zesty acids and the same lift and cut as the Narvaux on the very long and very classy finish. Lovely Chevalières. (Drink between 2025-2055)
