2 Vintage American Mechanical Clocks / Alarm Clocks – Westclox "Big Ben" Style 5 & Ingraham "Sentinel 8-Day" – Made in U.S.A. – 1930s/1940s
An excellent lot for collectors of Americana and vintage horology.
1. Westclox "Big Ben" Loud Alarm (Style 5):
• Designer & History: An iconic model from the renowned Westclox company, designed by the prominent American industrial designer Henry Dreyfuss. The back features an embossed U.S. design patent number: U.S. DES. 114262 (designed 1938/1939).
• Features: Black (gunmetal) dial with large luminous numerals, Art Deco-style hands, and a secondary internal alarm dial positioned at 12 o'clock. It incorporates the famous "Loud Alarm" mechanism, with an adjustment switch located on the back. The base bears the inscription: "Made by Westclox, La Salle, Ill., U.S.A."
2. E. Ingraham Co. "Sentinel 8-Day":
• Manufacturer: Produced by the historic E. Ingraham Company in Bristol, Conn., U.S.A. • Features: Distinctive square vintage shape with a gold/brass-colored frame. They feature a white/cream dial, elegant Arabic numerals, and an internal sub-dial for the alarm. One bears the inscription "Sentinel 8 Day," indicating that the movement has an 8-day power reserve on a full wind.
• Brands: Westclox / E. Ingraham Co.
• Number of items: 2
• Type: Desk Clocks / Alarm Clocks
• Models: Big Ben Style 5 (Loud Alarm) & Sentinel 8-Day
• Movement: Mechanical - Wind-up
• Operational Status: In working order
• Period: 1930–1949
• Country of Origin: United States of America (U.S.A.)
• Material: Metal / Brass / Steel
Condition of items:
Both clocks are in proper working order. They remain in their original vintage condition, featuring a pronounced, authentic patina acquired over time. The Westclox shows normal wear and discoloration on the finish of the casing—around the perimeter and on the back cover—consistent with its age; this only enhances its historical character (please examine the photos carefully). All original winding keys and adjustment levers are present.
The clocks are sold in "as found" condition. While the mechanisms appear complete and functional, a professional inspection or adjustment is recommended, as their timekeeping accuracy has not been recently tested.
They exhibit signs of wear that are entirely consistent with their age.

Will be shipped in secure packaging.
