Description from the seller

Alfred Dunhill - Faux Book – rare vintage set of 245 poker chips, 1950s/1960s

Rare and refined original Alfred Dunhill London poker chips set, dating from the 1950s/60s, kept in its elegant original book-shaped case.
The case features a rigid wood structure externally clad in genuine blue leather, with refined gold detailing and the inscription “POKER CHIPS” stamped in gold on the back. The interior is lined with camel/tan leather and preserves the original compartments for the chips. The hardware and clasps are brass.
Inside there is the original label:
Dunhill
MADE IN ENGLAND

The set retains its 245 original large chips, substantial in size, about 45 mm in diameter and 3 mm in thickness, divided into:
96 white
49 purple
76 red
24 turquoise
The chips are made of Bakelite (Erinoid), particularly valued for its decorative possibilities. They feature a magnificent mother-of-pearl and marbled effect, with veining, shading and play of light within the material.
The chips do not bear numerical values and the set does not include playing cards, as it was conceived specifically as a poker chips set.

The combination of Alfred Dunhill, Made in England production, original book-style wooden case clad in leather, suede interior, brass hardware and 245 large Erinoid chips with a mother-of-pearl effect makes this ensemble a fascinating collectible.
