Description from the seller

Rare Porringer Cup (Puerperal Cup) with Lid and Coeval Presentation Plate – Empire / Louis-Philippe Style
Refined and elegant complete broth set (cup, lid and presentation plate) in fine white porcelain, dating to the early part of the 19th century (Empire / Louis-Philippe Era). The service is entirely hand-decorated with a rich combination of white enamel and geometrico-floral motifs in 22-carat gold lustre with agate-like sheen.
The neoclassical design features elegant fusiform motifs (central medallions), stars, palmettes and dotted garlands typical of the taste of high French craftsmanship of the period. The cup is equipped with two imposing ear-like handles fully gilded in gold and the lid is topped by an elegant acorn knop.
The object bears no marks on the bottom, a characteristic entirely typical and common for over 70% of elite productions from Parisian artisanal workshops of the 19th century (Vieux Paris), which worked on commission for the nobility and the upper bourgeoisie.
Porcelain condition: Excellent. The paste is snow-white, the glaze is lustrous and there are no chips, restorations or accidental breaks observed. The acorn knob on the lid has been glued (old repair) and shows a minimal loss of gilding at the tip. The 22-carat gilding retains extraordinary brilliance with almost no wear from rubbing.
On the lid there is a natural firing line. This is a micro-surface crack that occurred in the kiln during the first high-temperature firing; the master artisan subsequently laid down the gold gilding over the line without interruptions, fixing it in the subsequent firing. This detail does not constitute wear damage, but rather a fascinating hallmark of the workshop, attesting to its fully manual, period craftsmanship.
Dimensions: overall height of the cup 16 cm and diameter 15 cm; diameter of the plate 21.5 cm
Please examine the attached images carefully.
The item is sold as is, as documented in detail by the photographic gallery.
