I offer at auction an exclusive long necklace of natural turquoise beads of superior quality. The entire necklace has been hand-knotted with knots at each bead and the clasp is 925 silver.
Professionally assembled in our workshop in Madrid (Spain).
Turquoise is associated with Christianity as a symbol of heaven, divinity, and spiritual healing.
Its sky-blue color evokes God's dwelling, the peace of the Holy Spirit, and the comforting waters of faith. In the Bible, this gem appears in Exodus as one of the twelve sacred stones of the Breastplate of the High Priest Aaron, representing a tribe of Israel, and in Ezekiel as an adornment of the Garden of Eden.
During the Middle Ages, its use spread in European liturgical art. Christian artisans set it with reverence in processional crosses, chalices, and covers of Evangelists. By combining heavenly blue with earthly green, it also represents the armor of faith in spiritual warfare. Finally, due to its shade, it became closely linked to the mantle of the Virgin Mary as a symbol of purity and devotion.
