Description from the seller
De Gouden Cocktail was a unique edition to mark the Vandersteen dinner on November 28, 2025. An edition of only 80 numbered copies. This is number 54. Softcover, 168 pages. Dedicated to the Asia trip Vandersteen made in 1959. His subsequent album The Golden Circle is one of the most distinctive stories in his body of work. Thanks to the support of De Standaard and KLM, a long-cherished dream became a reality at a time when flying was still special: a round-the-world journey full of impressions, encounters and inspiration. What makes The Golden Circle so unique is that Vandersteen wove his own travel experiences into it. This special Golden Cocktail edition first provides a complete view: from the lead-up to the trip, the trip itself, the experiences of the journey for Vandersteen and their meaning afterward. It has thus become not only a unique document but also a valuable snapshot of its era. The Vroem-Vroem Club is a special edition—this is number 216 of 250 copies—that guest-artist Gerben Valkema created from the sketch setup of the story. With loose ex-libris.
