Description from the seller
Magical Titbits is the last in Hoffmann’s influential series of books.
First published in 1911, detailing the apparatus, methods and tricks used by the magicians and conjurers of that era. Hoffmann was one of the greatest authorities on the theory and practice of magic, despite his own limited professional experience as a magician.
The first part of this book consists of descriptions of new miscellaneous tricks. The second, much larger, part focuses on the life and magic effects of Hoffmann’s late friend, and fellow magician, Joseph Hartz. Thanks to the inclusion of a biographical chapter, this book gives a rare insight into the working life of a late nineteenth-century conjuror.
Published by George Routledge & Sons Limited. London, 1911. Publisher’s original red boards with stamped illustration and gilt lettering to upper board and spine.
Book Dimensions: 19 x 13 cm and Number of Pages: 221
Condition
External covers are slightly faded and marked, with light wear to corners, edges, and minor rubbings to head and foot of the spine. Internally; the book in good condition. Pages are clean with light foxing to some pages. All illustrations are present and in nice condition (Please see pictures).
