Description from the seller

Christofle – Rectangular pastry tray in silvered metal, Art Deco style – France

Elegant pastry tray signed Christofle, with slender proportions and essential geometric lines, expression of refined Art Deco taste. The smooth, bright surface highlights the sobriety of the design, creating a highly elegant complement for the table and for presenting cakes and pastries.

The model closely corresponds to a specimen described as reference a-729 in Christofle catalog No. 35 of 1935, consultable in the link below. This comparison documents the model, without establishing with certainty the year of production of the proposed specimen.

On the lower side there are the signature CHRISTOFLE and the punches, including the chess knight accompanied by the letters OC.

The model was originally accompanied by an oak insert, designed to protect the silvered surface during cutting of the pastries. That insert is not present.

Dimensions
Length: 38 cm
Width: 15.5 cm
Height: 2.2 cm

Condition
The tray is in good preserved condition, with intact silvering, no losses or missing areas visible anywhere. The surface retains a beautiful sheen, which enhances its elegance.

There are some signs of use, especially on the interior and the lower side, while the edges are less affected. One corner shows a very slight bend, not pronounced and documented in the photographs. These are marks of time and use that do not compromise the pleasant overall presence of the object.

Note on photographs
The surface is smooth and without patterns. Being very shiny and reflective, in the photographs it reproduces the surrounding environment, including a curtain: any streaks or shapes visible are reflections and not decorations of the tray.

The photographs are an integral part of the description.
