"This painting is an exploration into the dissolution of form and the uncontrollable energy of nature. My intention was not to create a photorealistic depiction of a sailing boat, but to capture the visceral experience of navigation in its most extreme moment, where the physical structure merges with the environment.
The work presents a classic sailboat that seems to be disintegrating or transforming. I have used a heavy impasto technique and a spatula to build and deconstruct the hull and the sails. Earthy tones, broken whites, and hints of rust applied with a rough textured surface evoke aged wood, salt, and the wear of time, suggesting that the boat is part of the landscape as much as the sea.
The setting is a vibrant, textured blue sky full of gestural movement, colliding violently with a dark, deep sea at the bottom. This clash of colors and textures creates dramatic tension, where the boat is a focal point of light trapped in a maelstrom. It is a meditation on the fragility of human construction in the face of the eternity of the ocean and the sky.
The loose, expressive brushwork invites the viewer to interpret the scene, turning the work into an emotional journey rather than a simple visual description. It is an ideal piece for a collector seeking art with a strong physical presence and a symbolic narrative about struggle and resilience."
