MEDSAN - Kintsugi Ponyo (金継ぎのポニョ) - UNIQUE WORK

THERE IS ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD - EDITION 1/1

In this square format, Medsan seats Ponyo, the little heroine of Ponyo on the Cliff, from Studio Ghibli, in the middle of a nocturnal downpour. She holds with both hands a green bucket overturned on her head, dented and speckled with rust spots, water running off in heavy drops. Under this makeshift shelter, her orange hair peeks out, her large round eyes look straight ahead and her mouth opens in a frank laugh. She sits with legs stretched in a puddle that reflects her white dress, covered with waves and salmon swirls. A network of golden lines runs across her face, arms, and dress, and small white and pinkish glints stand out around her shoulders.
Rain falls in clear vertical strokes on a deep blue background, and each drop draws circles on the water surface. At the bottom right, the caption reads メドサン. A child’s joy facing the storm.

A tender and luminous piece, ideal for bringing a touch of Japanese fantasy to a contemporary collector’s interior.

About Medsan / Popsan:
Medsan and Popsan are two signatures of the same artist. Under the name Medsan, he explores the world of medicine and anatomy; under the name Popsan, he revisits pop culture icons by blending pop art, Japanese art, and anachronisms. On Catawiki, his pop works still appear under the name Medsan, but they belong to the Popsan universe. He creates at the Atelier Joconde, a family of artists’ workshop, alongside Le Yack (figurative painting) and Neo Pablo (abstraction).
