MEDSAN - Laputa Robot Soldier in the Desert (砂漠のロボット兵) - UNIQUE WORK

ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD EXISTS - EDITION 1/1

In this square format, Medsan places the robot soldier from Castle in the Sky in the sky, the Studio Ghibli film, at the heart of a desert of orange dunes. The giant sits, half-buried in sand. He tilts his oval head forward and his two round, hollow eyes fix the ground. His rust-colored frame, speckled with verdigris, reveals, here and there, beams and gears. In front of him, his huge hand rests in the sand, the fingers curved, and a detached arm lies farther to the right.
A small caravan of camels, led by travelers in long robes, passes just under his fingers. Around him, ancient columns and a stone portico stand, broken, among the dunes. On the horizon, purple mesas cut against a turquoise sky where a white sun shines, among heavy cream clouds. The sleeping guardian still watches over a world that has forgotten him.

A space that is both peaceful and monumental, ideal for bringing a touch of Ghibli reverie to a contemporary interior of a passionate Japanese animation collector.

About Medsan / Popsan:
Medsan and Popsan are two signatures of the same artist. Under the name Medsan, he explores the universe of medicine and anatomy; under the name Popsan, he revisits icons of popular culture by blending pop art, Japanese art, and anachronisms. On Catawiki, his pop works still appear under the name Medsan, but they belong to the Popsan universe. He creates at Atelier Joconde, a family-run artist studio, alongside Le Yack (figurative painting) and Neo Pablo (abstraction).
