MEDSAN - Kintsugi Hello Kitty in the Rain (雨の中の金継ぎハローキティ) - UNIQUE WORK

THERE IS ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD - EDITION 1/1

In this square format, Medsan shows Hello Kitty, Sanrio’s icon, alone under a downpour in the middle of the night. She sits perfectly upright, paws folded in front of her. With both hands she grips the curved handle of a green umbrella whose stem passes just in front of her face. Her black eyes look straight ahead, calm, above her small yellow nose. Her red bow, placed on her left ear, is edged in gold. Her entire white body is covered with five-petaled blue flowers and fine branches. Broad golden lines run across her from head to knee, like the joints of a broken object that has been glued back together.

Around her, the night is a nearly black blue. The rain falls in long, pale streams and droplets hang at the edge of the umbrella, also edged in gold. On the wet ground, the droplets form circles, and the white and gold of her silhouette are reflected there. A image of tranquil patience, sheltered from the storm.

A soft and luminous piece, ideal for bringing a touch of Japanese poetry to a contemporary collector’s pop art interior.

About Medsan / Popsan:
Medsan and Popsan are two signatures of one and the same artist. Under the name Medsan, he explores the world of medicine and anatomy; under the name Popsan, he revisits pop culture icons by blending pop art, Japanese art and anachronisms. On Catawiki, his pop works still appear under the name Medsan, but they belong to the Popsan universe. He creates at the Atelier Joconde, a family artists’ studio, alongside the artists Le Yack (figurative painting) and Neo Pablo (abstraction).
