Loïc Tuhal (1962) - Regard Solaire

Loïc Tuhal (born in 1962) is a contemporary French painter whose work is characterized by a physical, expressive and highly colorful approach to painting.

Regard solaire is an original oil on canvas work, depicting a female eye in extreme close-up. The blue gaze, particularly intense, forms the focal point of the composition and contrasts with the explosion of colours surrounding it.

The artist deploys here a particularly vibrant palette, mixing reds, oranges, yellows, blues, turquoise, pinks, whites and blacks. The broad brushstrokes, impastos and visible brushwork give the work great energy and a real sense of movement.

The depiction deliberately moves away from realism to privilege color, material and the force of the painterly gesture. The contrast between the precision of the gaze and the very free treatment surrounding it creates a powerful and contemporary composition.

This work fully fits within Loïc Tuhal’s universe, where the human figure becomes a preferred vehicle for expression, emphasizing the intensity of the gaze, the power of color and the materiality of painting.
