Achille Formis pseudonym of Achille Befani (Napoli, 15 September 1832 – Milano, 28 October 1906) was an Italian painter.
Achille Befani was born in Naples where he began a career as a singer, which he abandoned in the early 1860s when, under the pseudonym Formis, he moved to Milan to attend the Brera Academy of Fine Arts. His Orientalist subjects were highly appreciated, executed upon returning from repeated travels to the Near East; alongside these, from the seventies he produced landscapes inspired by the Lombard countryside and the surroundings of Lake Maggiore, becoming a valued interpreter of Lombard naturalism beside painters like Eugenio Gignous, his friend since the Academy days. He participated in the annual Brera exhibitions and in 1887 at the Venice National Artistic Exhibition, where he returned in 1899 with a view of the Mantuan countryside. He then exhibited in Berlin in 1896 and in Munich in 1901 and 1906, the year of his death.
In 1899 he participated in the III International Art Exhibition of Venice.
