Krap/Crap - Certitude & Doute (2019)

Certitude & Doubt – Krap/Crap – Diptych skateboard art – 2 unique original works

Diptyque original titled “Certitude & Doubt,” created by the artist Krap/Crap on two skateboard decks.

This two-part work develops a lush composition, at the crossroads of skateboard art, contemporary illustration, graffiti, and the tattoo aesthetic.

On the first deck appears a three-faced character, wearing a cap, with a body fully tattooed. Its deformed anatomy, multiple eyes, and enigmatic expression compose a figure that is grotesque, humorous, and unsettling at once.

The second deck presents a dense assembly of characters, tattoos, skulls, serpents, references to urban culture, and graphic elements inspired by the tattoo universe.

The two compositions echo each other through their motifs, their extremely detailed black line work, and their use of natural wood as a base.

The whole plays on contrasts between certainty and doubt, order and chaos, appearance and identity, in a graphic universe rich in detail.

Two original and unique works

These are not mass-produced skateboards but two unique pieces created by the artist Krap/Crap.

Each deck constitutes a complete artwork in its own right, but their pairing forms a cohesive diptych, designed to be presented and appreciated as a whole.

The skateboard medium occupies a central place in the composition, turning an emblematic object of urban culture into a true medium of artistic expression.
