Description from the seller
Original work by the artist Jérôme Mesnager on a genuine cinema poster for the film "Le Quai des Brumes". Frameless format 31x24 cm.
Jérôme Mesnager entered the Boulle School in 1974, where he trained as a cabinetmaker and where he would later teach. In 1979, he attended the comic courses of Yves Got and Georges Pichard, professors at the École supérieure des arts appliqués Duperré.
He is one of the founders, in 1982, of Zig-Zag, a group of about ten very young artists who decide to occupy the street by drawing graffiti and, also, to briefly occupy, for the duration of an artistic performance, abandoned factories.
On January 16, 1983, he invents the Man in White, "a symbol of light, strength and peace." This white silhouette has been reproduced by Jérôme Mesnager around the world, from the walls of Paris to the Great Wall of China.
In 1990, Jérôme Mesnager leaves his childhood home, the place of his meetings with Jean-Pierre Le Boul'ch, the headquarters of his associations, the studio of his first works, to move to the 20th arrondissement of Paris. He will exhibit a series of hoardings on the theme of battles at the Loft gallery, which publishes a catalog.
In 1995, he creates a large mural on rue de Ménilmontant, in the 20th, "It’s us, the guys from Ménilmontant."
Jérôme Mesnager often collaborates with Némo, whose signature character is the black silhouette of a man in a raincoat wearing a hat. In this regard, he has accompanied the Parisian urban art movement (Blek le Rat, Miss.Tic, Jef Aérosol, Némo, etc.) and Figuration Libre at the beginning of the 1980s.
