Statue, Hermes Kriophoros - 29 cm - Bronze, Marble

This bronze figure on a marble base represents Hermes Kriophoros (the bearer of the ram), a classical iconography of Greek mythology where the god Hermes is portrayed as the protector of shepherds and flocks.
This piece is a replica inspired by a famous bronze statuette from the late archaic period (around 500–490 BC) that is preserved in the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. In it one can discern its characteristic elements: the petasos (wide-brimmed hat typical of travelers), the high boots, and the ram he carefully carries on his shoulders.
