AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Charming rectangular box of Japanese origin, combining traditional lacquer art and the refinement of mid-century collectible music boxes.

** Exterior decorations: The lid is richly illustrated with a traditional Japanese landscape in polychromy with gold highlights, featuring a majestic peacock in the foreground with mother-of-pearl inlays, in front of Mount Fuji, pines and bridges. The sides of the box feature delicate gold scenes of landscapes.

** Interior: Fully lined with clean scarlet red velvet. Partitioned into three sections to store jewelry or small accessories.
A set of small vertical mirrors adorns the underside of the lid, creating a beautiful depth effect.

** Mechanism & Operation: Hand-wound musical mechanism (key included under the box). On opening, the melody plays and a small relief ballerina begins to rotate gracefully at the center. The musical mechanism and the ballerina are fully operational.

** Condition: The lacquer is glossy with very light signs of wear consistent with its age. The interior velvet is clean. The mirrors show some aging spots (visible in the photos) characteristic and that add to their authentic charm. The ballerina is intact.
