Description from the seller

Downtown - 04 (n.767)
Dimensions: 40.00 cm x 50.00 cm
Acrylics on small pieces of paper on canvas (mixed media)

Unframed; shipped rolled.

I create paintings using acrylic colors and thousands of small scraps of recycled paper: everyday paper is transformed into art rather than ending up in the trash.

Downtown Series - With the Downtown series I want to convey a vibrant, urban, almost frantic energy. Moving from the intense, focused portraits and social themes of "Not your doll" to this urban landscape, I intend to explore the chaos and lights of the city and how we position ourselves in this era on this planet.

The depicted metropolis seems to be not only a physical space but a visual representation of the weight of our time.

From the pristine forest our planet once was, humans have arrived at colonizing and distorting the environment, creating and shaping their own habitat with their economic and social evolution.

This work is unique and original.

Each piece is safely packaged, wrapped and protected for shipment worldwide, with an Authenticity Certificate included.
I use the courier directly provided by Catawiki and a tracking number will be supplied.

This artwork will be shipped without a frame and without a canvas stretcher since it is shipped rolled. The canvas is larger than the painted dimensions because the extra surface is useful and necessary to stretch the canvas on a frame.
It is advisable to have the work stretched and mounted by a trusted professional who can also advise on a suitable frame.

Images showing the work in interior settings are for illustrative purposes only and proportions may appear different. Actual dimensions are those indicated in the description.

Different light sources can give different colors in the photos.

Thank you.

Important notice for international (non-EU) buyers:
Customs duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping costs. These charges are the buyer’s responsibility. The amount should be between 10% and 20% of the artwork value.

Born in 1974, I am self-taught.

After an initial period devoted to sculpture there was a long pause lasting nearly twenty years. From December 2014 I returned to the “two dimensions” for reasons of time and space, putting sculpture aside and dedicating myself to acrylic paintings.

I love painting abstract landscapes but recently I have been pushing myself to paint faces of people, both imaginary and real.

For me painting is about “freezing time” in that exact moment; a painting of mine is often a faded memory and thus my works are “worn, eroded by time.” Sometimes the subjects of my paintings are glimpses of walls also eroded by time, with moss and mushrooms that – over time – grow on the surface.
Time passing inexorably is the main theme of my works.

Coming from a wonderful experience with clay manipulation, I love sculpture, the third dimension, the sense of touch, and my paintings are often characterized by reliefs that are palpable to the touch and visible to the naked eye.

Recently, after several years during which my works were made from little pieces of recycled paper forming figures, I am pushing myself to explore Optical Art where I use painted wooden disks arranged in lines and grids with mathematical precision that, when viewed up close, seem to form an abstract colorful painting, but stepping back gradually reveals a portrait formed by the many colored wooden disks.

Violence against women is a theme that characterizes almost all my works when I reproduce female faces, precisely to give them a voice when they do not have the strength or courage to denounce the fact that they are not their partner’s dolls and cannot be mistreated or, worse, victims of violence.
