Description from the seller

Romolo Verzolini (Domus) - Large wall crucifix in embossed and fire-glazed copper - 1970s

Wall crucifix entirely made of copper by the ceramicist and sculptor Romolo Verzolini (Pesaro, 1939). The work belongs to the 'Domus' line, as certified by the original paper label on the back: "Rame ✦ Ceramiche - Bigiotteria - Romolo Verzolini".

Technical details and manufacturing

• Material and Technique: Embossed copper sheet in bas-relief finished with vitreous glazes fired at high heat. The thermal fusion of the pigments creates a shiny, iridescent surface, featuring blue-green tones on the cross body and golden and red hues concentrated on the figure of Christ and the halo.
• Formal characteristics: Perimeter profile with perforated and wavy trimming in small arches. The work is prepared for wall mounting via a through hole on the upper arm of the cross. The back shows the negative relief of the embossing.

Dimensions and specifications

• Height: 30.5 cm
• Width: 26 cm
• Origin: Italy (Pesaro)
• Period: About 1970

Condition

Excellent condition. The object is intact and structurally sound. The vitreous enamel shows no chipping, gaps, or restorations, preserving the original brilliance and polychromy. The original back label is fully preserved and legible.
