La Sagrada Familia de Francisco I is an oil painting from 17th-century Italy, attributed to the Italian School after Rafaello Sanzio, and is sold with a frame.
Description from the seller
• The Virgin Mary and the Child Jesus: On the right, Mary appears kneeling or seated in profile, wearing a reddish- or ochre-toned tunic and a dark mantle. She holds or affectionately interacts with the Child Jesus, who is naked in the center of the scene, his feet resting on a cushion or elongated bench as he seeks his mother's embrace.
• St. John the Apostle and Saint Anne: On the left, an elderly woman with her head covered by a white mantle (suggesting Saint Anne) holds a small child who bears a small wooden cross, identifiable as Saint John the Baptist in infancy (Little John).
• Celestial and accompanying figures: Behind the Virgin and Saint Anne, the faces of two other women or angels can be seen. One of them, at the top, appears to be holding a crown of flowers or laurel over Mary’s head.
• Saint Joseph: In the upper right corner, an older bearded man emerges from the shadows, observing the scene with a protective attitude, traditionally representing Saint Joseph.
DIMENSIONS WITHOUT FRAME: 41 HIGH X 33 WIDE
