Description from the seller

"Madone Italienne" in an elegant, gold- and white-colored Baroque frame.
The striking, silver-colored halo (nimbus) behind the heads is not merely painted flatly, but sits as a relief on the painting.
Artist's signature on the front in the lower left corner.
Zamarra.
(Venice 1898–Brussels 1976)
Handwritten message from the artist on the back:
• "Madone Italienne"
• "by Zamarra"
• "112, Av. Lambeau" – This was the artist's former address: Avenue Lambeau 112 (Lambeaulaan) in the Brussels municipality of Sint-Lambrechts-Woluwe.
• "Bruxelles XV"
• "tel. 34.36.43" – The then (old six-digit) phone number of his studio or residence.
This kind of handwritten documentation on the back is typical for artists who managed or prepared their works themselves for an exhibition or sale through a gallery. The fact that his Brussels address and old phone number are included makes it a wonderful historical document that fully corroborates the provenance of the painting.
