Description from the seller

Original work titled "Saiyan Cosmicat," created by the artist Yandy Graffer on a skateboard deck, as part of the Spraying Board artistic project.

This creation blends contemporary painting, skate culture, and references to Japanese manga, in a particularly colorful and expressive composition.

Description of the work

"Saiyan Cosmicat" depicts the face of a cosmic cat with a mischievous gaze, directly inspired by the world of Japanese animated cartoons.

The animal is recognizable by its two large stretched eyes, blue and violet irises, framed by thick pink eyelids.

Its face is built around a nearly symmetrical composition, with pink and orange cheeks, white whiskers, and a small bright red nose.

Above its eyes, several golden elements evoke futuristic armor, while green and yellow shapes frame the ends of the board.

The color palette is particularly vivid: fuchsia pink, orange, golden yellow, emerald green, electric blue, and violet.

The gradients, light reflections, and carefully crafted outlines give the character an expression that is at once mysterious, playful, and slightly provocative.

A tribute to Doraemon and Dragon Ball

The work draws directly from two major references in Japanese popular culture.

The character is especially inspired by Doraemon, the famous robotic cat from the future, whose universe blends humor, science fiction, and childish imagination.

Yandy Graffer reinterprets this figure through a more expressive and fantastical aesthetic.

The cat is also clad in armor inspired by the Saiyans from Dragon Ball, with blue, white, and gold elements.

This unlikely meeting of two iconic manga universes gives birth to a hybrid character, at once familiar and entirely reinvented.

The artist does not seek to reproduce an existing character, but to offer their own graphical interpretation of these influences.

A creation between graffiti, illustration and Skate Art

"Saiyan Cosmicat" stands out for a composition designed specifically for the horizontal format of a skateboard deck.

The character’s eyes occupy almost the entire width of the support, turning it into a monumental and expressive face.

This use of the format recalls the codes of graffiti and urban art, where characters are often depicted through exaggerated expressions, saturated colors, and dynamic outlines.

Close-up photographs allow appreciation of the richness of the painting: color overlays, gradients, light effects, and graphic details.

The skateboard thus becomes a true vehicle for artistic expression, intended to be exhibited as a mural piece.

About Yandy Graffer

Yandy Graffer develops a dreamlike and colorful artistic universe, nourished by popular culture, mangas, spirituality, and Peruvian folklore.

His compositions combine expressive characters, personal references, and a great chromatic richness.

His work explores the encounters between different visual cultures, from Japanese animation to South American traditions, through the codes of contemporary graffiti.

"Saiyan Cosmicat" illustrates this approach by bringing together two emblematic references of his imagination in an original skateboard creation.
