AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Antique two-pan balance scale in metal and cast iron decorated – Late 19th / early 20th century

Description

Interesting antique two-pan balance scale, presumably dating from the late 19th or early 20th century, characterized by a metal structure throughout and a refined polychrome decoration in tones of golden bronze and brown.

The base, presumably in cast iron, features a stepped, tiered structure, enriched with geometric relief motifs.

The central mechanism consists of a swinging balance with an elegant decorative vertical support. At the ends are placed two circular concave removable metal pans.

Particularly interesting is the original or period coloring, with alternating gold and brown bands along the balance and the base.

The object shows signs of age, patina, surface oxidation and small finish flaws, compatible with its age and use.

The balance appears complete with the two pans and the main structural elements. The correct functioning and weighing precision have not been verified.

An fascinating object for collectors of antique measuring instruments, vintage furnishings, professional studies or environments with a classic taste.

Conditions: vintage/antique condition, as documented in detail in the photographs.

Materials: metal, probable cast iron and polychrome finishes.

Era: presumably late 19th – early 20th century.

Provenance: not documented.

The photographs are an integral part of the description.
