Description from the seller

Original work titled “Or Lagoyim,” created by artist Yandy Graffer on a cut and painted skateboard deck, as part of the Spraying Board project.

This creation merges contemporary painting, spiritual symbolism, and skateboard culture in an expressive composition, directly inspired by the artist’s Peruvian identity and roots.

Description of the work

“Or Lagoyim” depicts a stylized face with an especially intense gaze, whose two large yellow eyes occupy almost the entire width of the composition.

Dark pupils, pink eyelids, and angular outlines create an expression that is at once mysterious, determined, and hypnotic.

The face unfolds in a palette of bright colors: fuchsia pink, turquoise, blue, violet, yellow, orange, and red.

In the center, a geometric motif emphasizes the bridge of the nose, while golden and luminous shapes evoke sun rays.

On either side of the board, two red ears cut out extend the silhouette of the face, giving the whole a sculptural dimension.

The gradients, contrasts, and reflections add depth to this highly graphic composition.

A personal work between identity and spirituality

Unlike Yandy Graffer’s other Spraying Board works, which are more inspired by nature or popular culture, “Or Lagoyim” has a particularly personal dimension.

The character with the piercing gaze represents the artist’s identity, his relationship to spirituality, and his attachment to his Peruvian origins.

The sun, present in the composition through the golden elements, occupies a central place in this symbolism.

The frontal stance of the face and the intensity of its expression give the work an almost totemic presence.

Through this creation, Yandy Graffer transforms the skateboard into a medium for intimate expression, bringing together cultural references, personal imagination, and contemporary graphic language.

A skateboard transformed into a wall sculpture

The peculiarity of this work also lies in the treatment of its support.

The skateboard deck has been cut to extend the silhouette of the character, notably at the level of the ears that project on each side.

This intervention alters the traditional shape of the skateboard and gives it a true sculptural dimension.

Presented horizontally, the work functions as a contemporary mask, whose eyes seem to follow the viewer’s gaze.

Close-up photographs allow appreciation of the paint gradients, color overlays, and graphic details.

About Yandy Graffer

Yandy Graffer develops a dreamlike, colorful artistic universe, fueled by graffiti, popular culture, manga, spirituality, and Peruvian folklore.

His creations combine expressive characters, dynamic compositions, and rich chromaticity.

His work explores the meeting points between different visual cultures while giving prominent space to his personal history and roots.

“Or Lagoyim” illustrates this approach through a symbolic composition where the artist’s identity becomes the central subject of the work.
