Description from the seller
Antique desk clock with page boy – Late 1800s / Early 1900s – Mechanical, functioning
Elegant and distinctive antique desk clock with an eighteenth-century taste, presumably dating to the end of the 19th century or the early decades of the 20th century.
The composition depicts a refined page boy in period costume, with elaborate aristocratic-inspired attire, characterized by rich ornamental details, ribbons, decorated collar, worked sleeves, and typical footwear of the historical costume.
The figure is portrayed in a lively and expressive pose, with one hand raised, beside an elegant round table with a decorated top and fringed edge.
Behind him rises a slim ornamental column that supports the circular clock, creating an original and scenographic composition.
The structure appears made of patinated metal, probably régule, with a dark bronze-like finish.
The clock features a circular brass-colored case, a white dial with Roman numerals, metal hands, and an external minute scale.
On the back there are two manual winding devices for the mechanical movement.
The rectangular base is enriched with raised geometric decorations and ornamental borders.
