Carstens Tönnieshof:
Carstens Tönnieshof was one of the leading and most innovative producers of West German art pottery (West German Pottery) during the mid-century period. The company was founded in 1947 in Fredelsloh by Ernst Carstens and his son Christian, after the family had lost their original factories in East Germany following World War II. Until its closure in 1977 (and final bankruptcy in 1984), the factory managed to make a huge impact on the ceramic world with iconic decors and innovative glazes.
Alfred Klein Keramik:
Alfred Klein Keramik (often abbreviated as AK Keramik) was a relatively small but highly characteristic producer of West German ceramics. The company was founded in 1934 by Alfred Klein in Ransbach-Baumbach, located in the famous potters’ region the Westerwald. Although historically less documented than giants like Carstens or Scheurich, the vases are beloved by collectors for their unique production methods. Production ran from the 1930s until the closure in the 1980s.
