Rodney “Rod” George Laver, AC (* August 9, 1938 in Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia) is a former Australian tennis player.
Laver, who between 1963 and 1967 was not allowed to participate in Grand Slam tournaments as a professional tennis player, was in 1962 the second player after Donald Budge to win all four tournaments of this series in one season, and is the only player in tennis history to have achieved this success a second time in his career (1969).
Particularly due to these achievements, Laver is regarded as one of the best players of the late 1950s and 1960s and, alongside Pancho Gonzales, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Đoković, as one of the greatest players in tennis history.
