Ancient devotional object: miniature wax Infant Jesus in a silvery, shell-shaped reliquary box – - Antique - Wax, Silverplated, Velvet - Early 20th century

The entire ensemble is housed in an original shell- or kidney-shaped, silver-plated metal casket (about 12–15 cm) with stylized lion-paw feet. The inside of the lid is lined with the original deep red velvet.
An exquisite micro-sculpture carved from antique wax (wax figurine, about 3–4 cm) with a very fine, almost transparent rendering of the flesh tone, typical of fine monastic works. The figure is completed by a small golden nimbus behind the head.
The interior: The tiny wax figure rests on its original, elegant cushion made from antique purple/old-rose colored silk fabric, framed by a rich, hand-sewn gold trim (gold edging) with small pearl accents at the corners."
