AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

In the Thick of It

Oil on canvas | 120 × 80 cm

A human figure in the midst of a multi-layered, dynamic composition. Face, body and hands emerge from the color fields, while other parts almost completely merge with their surroundings.

Muted gray, beige and green tones define the image. Light blues and pinkish hues, as well as individual strong orange accents, create lively contrasts.

The figure appears both present and distant. Its gestures are recognizable, yet the situation remains ambiguous. Representational elements and abstract color fields flow into one another.

“In the Thick of It” is a contemporary figurative painting about human presence and the manifold meanings of a moment. The open visual language leaves room for personal perception and associations.

Original painting, oil on canvas, 120 × 80 cm.

About me:
"My painting moves at the boundary between figuration and abstraction - a tense dialogue of expressive gesture, intense color worlds and intuitive dynamics. Inspired by the energy of Abstract Expressionism, which moves between body and dissolution, chaos and harmony."
Each work is a process of questioning and rediscovery:
Lines break through surfaces.
Figures appear and disappear.
An emotionally charged dance between control and release."

Mila Veljac'a is a visual artist from Croatia. She studied at art academies in Croatia, Vienna, Salzburg and Stuttgart and for several years shared her expertise as a lecturer in fine arts.
