Description from the seller
Born in 1972 in Kinshasa. Lives and works in the Republic of the Congo.
Francklin Mbungu is a remarkable artist on the Congolese contemporary scene. Son of an antique dealer, he begins a career as an art agent, then turns toward contemporary art by carving out his own path, far from the traces of the great masters of Congolese popular painting. Francklin wields scissors and glue… He creates distinctive cuts in sheets of paper of all colors, and makes collages on stiff cardboard. Characters emerge, here a street musician, there a couple of dancers. Stories are told…
Recently exhibited at MIAM in Sète during the exhibition “Kinshasa Chronicles” at the Cité de l’Architecture (Paris).
Artwork sold with a certificate of authenticity. Shipped by DHL or FedEx, carefully packaged.
