Description from the seller
Magnificent traditional Orthodox Easter egg with its matching pedestal, carved in one piece from solid raw wood (lime/linden).
• Central iconography: a medallion depicting the icon of the Virgin Mary (Theotokos) with the Child Jesus, with fine details and varnished finishes.
• Decoration: Richly hand-ornamented with brushwork and gold metallic painting (geometric motifs, crosses and foliage on the base).
• Inlays: Adorned with a crown of rhinestones and multicolored, multifaceted cabochons on each side of the central medallion.
• Material: Traditional turned limewood (the rough base underneath shows the tree rings and the centering point of the lathe tool).
Very good overall condition, glossy lacquer, brilliant gilding
Collectible item A remarkable display piece, ideal for collectors of Slav art and religious craftsmanship that will delight young and old
