Title: Human Noise Cancellation - C-3PO

About this work:

Designed to understand humans, communicate with them and serve them, C-3PO seems to have found a radical solution to their contradictions: turning up the volume of music!

Equipped with an oversized headset, the famous droid now prefers melodies to conversations, rhythms to speeches, and harmony to human chaos.

Through this humorous appropriation, the artwork offers an ironic look at a society saturated with words, conflicts and constant solicitations.

An inversion of roles where the machine, supposedly devoid of sensitivity, discovers in music what humans sometimes seem to have forgotten: the pleasure of harmony.

Mixed media: PLA, metallic gold finish on a wooden base.

Dimensions: 25x18x25 cm, base included

Signed and numbered by the artist under the base

Artist’s proof No. I/III (25 copies + 3 artist’s proofs)

Biography:

Kobalt, born in Paris in 1970, embodies the journey of a polymath artist whose creativity has unfolded from electronic music to contemporary graphic art. Coming from a family where art was already present through his father, a draftsman, Kobalt discovers at a very young age his first passion, musical creation. This passion guides him in his youth, and his early talents lead him to make a bold decision: to invest the money intended to fund his higher studies in the creation of his first album.

Distributed by EMI, the album does not meet the anticipated success, but it marks the beginning of a richly experimental artistic career.

Alongside his musical career, Kobalt enters the world of advertising as a designer/copywriter for the iconic magazine Playboy. For many years he applies his creativity to the publication, creating and producing the magazine’s advertising campaigns.

The turning point of his career comes in 2005 when he becomes a cameraman, exploring a new facet of the visual world. In 2007, he discovers a passion for photography, adding another artistic string to his bow. In 2010, he successfully founds his own photo agency, highlighting his entrepreneurial spirit.

In 2017, Kobalt makes a radical choice to sell his agency to fully embrace graphic art, influenced by his son, who has become a major figure in world street art. A pioneer of computer-assisted artistic creation, Kobalt stands out with more than 3,000 artworks sold in galleries and online to this day.

His artistic approach is marked by a bold use of humor, provocation and anachronisms, with a particular leaning toward subverting magazine covers, a style that makes him instantly recognizable.

Despite the digital era, Kobalt has chosen to stay on the margins of social networks, thus preserving a certain privacy. Today, he uses all available digital tools to bring his creations to life, continuing to push the boundaries of artistic expression with a subtle blend of inspiration, innovation and humor.
