Subject description:

This scene depicts a marina at dawn, characterized by delicate warm and subdued tones in the sky and on the water. Two fishing sailing boats sail close together on the calm surface of the sea. On board are some fishermen engaged in their activities, such as net management or boat preparation. On the left, on one of the vessels, there is also a small fire or brazier lit. The horizon and the distant coast are only hinted, with the Venetian coastal silhouette and sails dotting the expanse of water. The painting style highlights the play of reflections of the golden sunlight on the sea, creating a tranquil, intimate atmosphere and a working maritime quiet.
