Vintage Porsche Design by Carrera Sunglasses - Model 5638 - Tortoise Shell and Gold - Made in Austria
Description:
Up for auction, an iconic piece in the history of eyewear: a pair of vintage Porsche Design by Carrera sunglasses, dating probably to the 1980s or early 1990s.
This model, the 5638, stands out for its elegant mixed frame that blends classic tortoiseshell acetate (with warm shades of brown, amber, and hints of dark green/blue) with refined gold-plated metal details, such as the bridge and hinges. The lens shape is a sophisticated reinterpretation of the panto style, slightly squared but with rounded corners, suitable for both men and women.

Measurements (engraved on the temple): 52[]22 140 (Lens 52mm, Bridge 22mm, Temple 140mm). Suitable for a medium-small face.

Lenses: Gradient gray/purple (gray at the top fading to a lighter purple at the bottom). Logo "PORSCHE DESIGN" stamped on the left lens.
Internal Code (visible in the photo): 230826 (warehouse/inventory code, not part of the original model).
Condition:
The sunglasses are in excellent vintage condition.
Frame: structurally intact. The acetate maintains its luster. The gold parts show only very minor signs of wear and aging, with no obvious defects or significant plating loss. The hinges are firmly attached. The nose pads and temple tips are in good condition.
Lenses: The original gradient lenses are in excellent condition. They may show micro-scratches imperceptible to the eye due to age and storage, which do not affect vision. The logo on the lens is perfectly clear.
