Description from the seller
Artwork no.566
Dimensions: 86.00 x 100.00 (cm)
I create paintings using acrylic paints and thousands of small pieces of recycled paper: everyday paper becomes art instead of ending up in the trash. In my latest works I have focused on the theme of women treated as objects (dolls) and too often victims of violence, and these are the latest pieces I have created.
"Not your doll" - "Not my doll" is a series where I intend to represent female faces with features reminiscent of the most classic dolls, and the message is: "even if I look like a real doll, I am not a doll, I am your doll and you can do with me what you want" with all that lies behind it, which unfortunately leads to violence.

This work is unique and original.
Each work is securely packaged, wrapped and protected for shipment worldwide, with the Certificate of Authenticity included.
I use the courier provided directly by Catawiki and a tracking number will be provided for the shipment.
This piece will be shipped without a frame or stretcher, as it will be shipped rolled. The canvas is larger than the painted dimensions because the extra surface is useful and necessary to stretch the canvas on a frame.
It is advisable to have the work stretched and mounted by a trusted professional who can also advise on an appropriate frame if desired.
The images showing the work in interior settings are for illustrative purposes only and the proportions may appear different. The actual dimensions are those indicated in the description.
Different light sources can render different colors in the photos.

Thank you.

Born in 1974 I am self-t taught.
After an initial period devoted to sculpture there was a long pause lasting almost twenty years. Since December 2014 I have returned with the "two dimensions" for reasons of time and space, neglecting sculpture and dedicating myself to acrylic paintings.
I love painting abstract landscapes but recently I have been pushing myself to paint faces of people, both imaginary and real.
For me, painting is "blocking time" at that exact moment; my painting is often a faded memory and therefore my works are "worn, eroded by time". Sometimes the subjects of my paintings are street walls also eroded by time, with moss and mushrooms that—over time—grow on the surface.
Time passing inexorably is the main theme of my works.
Coming from a wonderful experience with clay manipulation, I love sculpture, the third dimension, the sense of touch, and my paintings are often characterized by reliefs that are perceptible both by touch and to the naked eye.
In this recent period, after several years during which my works were made from small pieces of recycled paper forming figures, I am pushing myself to explore Optical Art where I use painted wooden disks arranged in lines and grids repeated with mathematical rigor that, when viewed up close, seem to form a colorful abstract painting, but the more you move away, the more a portrait emerges from the 768 painted wooden disks.
Violence against women is a theme that characterizes almost all my works when I reproduce the faces of women, precisely to give them a voice when they do not have the strength or courage to report that they are not their partner's dolls and cannot be mistreated or, worse, victims of violence.
